We are the Muirhead Family and we have been farming the Carse of Stirling for 4 generations. Few people understand the heavy clay soil on the Carse as well as we do. Mum & Dad (Alan & Una) have taken a step back from the hustle and bustle of every day farming life but are still a great source of information about farming and our local area.
Meet the family
It is myself (Alison), Ross and Anita who now manage the farm, our Scottish Gluten Free Oats and our Grass Seed businesses. The day to day running of the farm is undertaken by Ross Muirhead, the big brother of us 3. I (Alison) run the Strathallans Gluten Free Porridge Oats and Grass Seed business and Anita undertakes other family projects. Our lives are busy but they are also great fun. The next generation is also here, I have a daughter and Anita has 3 sons. We feel that bringing children up in a farming environment provides them with a more balanced outlook on life and a great insight on where food comes from and the work involved in putting good wholesome food on the table.
